DENTISTS in Brooklands will be pretty in pink on October 24 to support breast cancer awareness.

The Maple Road Dental Practice will be selling ‘teeth healthy’ pink cakes, plus a raffle for a large pink bra cake and electric toothbrushes.

The practice will donate a pound for every patient who arrives for their appointment wearing something pink.

Dental nurse, Christine Deakin, was inspired by her mother’s experience with the disease.

She said: “Our family was devastated when they said ‘cancer’, but luckily mum was diagnosed early, underwent a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and recovered well.

“It was a huge wake-up call to myself, two sisters and my daughter too.”

Maple Road director, Ian Hunt, said: “We hope everyone supports our fund-raising efforts for Breast Cancer Care.

"Their research shows that more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before.”

The charity is using October to encourage the public to be more ‘breast aware’.
