BOSSES are asking members of the public to become involved in producing artwork for the new Altrincham Hospital.

Those interested in helping, will work with arts charity Lime and alongside artist Stella Corrall, to develop the finished designs.

She will create a piece of artwork for the main waiting area, as well as designs for three glass panels in the new hospital which is due to open in spring next year.

A number of sessions have been organised to give people an opportunity to meet Stella, discuss the overall theme of the artwork and contribute their ideas.

There will also be a chance to get involved in some fun, hands-on activities. The aim of the sessions is to get a local flavour and feel that will help to inspire the designs for the new artwork.

The sessions are being held in Stamford ward in the current Altrincham Hospital on Market Street on the following dates: Wednesday, November 26, from 2pm to 4pm; Tuesday, December 2 from 10am to 12 noon; Saturday, December 6, from10am to 12 noon; Thursday , December 11, from 5pm to 7pm.

People wanting to participate, can go for the whole session or drop in at any time.

Stella creates artworks using specifically designed, flexible translucent plastics which begins with creating the material itself, its inherent colour, pattern and form.

She said: "This tactile material is then manipulated and developed into decorative site-specific art installations."

She explained: “My aim is to intrigue, delight and engage people of all ages. By working with the community and client, my work develops naturally in response to the environment, creating artwork with both a welcoming warmth and reassurance.”

Stella has created artwork for a number of local health premises including Forum Health in Wythenshawe and the Primary Care Centre in Ashton under Lyne.
