A BOWDON children’s charity is seeking sponsors from the business community to help support its annual fundraising golf day – which is regularly supported by Manchester United legend, Sir Bobby Charlton.

The Red Devils’ all time top scorer is president of the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, which is looking for 18 local companies to sponsor each hole at its golf day at The Mere on May 21.

It’s the charity’s 15th annual event, which has raised £23,000 for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from across the North West.

A charity spokesman said: "Teams of four players are invited to the golf club for a hearty lunch to kick start of what should be a fantastic day of golf, fun and fundraising.

"There will also be competitions en route to keep the golfers in good spirit followed by a fantastic prize-giving dinner, during which there will a raffle and silent auction."

Sir Bobby Charlton is a regular attendee of the golf day, and has previously visited with other United luminaries, including midfielder Clayton Blackmore.

In return for £100, businesses can either have their company banner displayed on the prestigious course for the whole day or have a full page advert in the official programme.

A team of four costs £480, to include a round of golf on the championship course, lunch, goodie bags and the dinner. Additional tickets for dinner can be purchased for £40.
