GUNS shots were fired during two armed robberies that took place minutes apart in Old Trafford.

Four men have were arrested in connection with the incidents, which occurred on the evening of Saturday, April 25

Shortly before 7.50pm, police were called to a convenience store in Warwick Road, Old Trafford to a report of an armed robbery.

Police attended and established that a man had entered the store, carrying a gun, and fired shots and made threats towards staff. He then left and no-one was injured.

Minutes later, just after 8pm, police were called to a newsagent’s in Kings Road to a report of an armed robbery.

Police attended and established that a man had entered the store, and fired shots and made threats towards staff, before leaving with cash.

A short time later a car was spotted by police driving at speed in the area.

Police followed the car and four men, two aged 19 and two aged 20 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing.
