A 26-YEAR-old Altrincham woman who had a double mastectomy to protect her from cancer, and was featured recently in the Messenger, has used her experience to create 'Drain Dollies'.

Charley Wood says they enable patients with surgical drains, to cover them so they can walk freely.

Former Altrincham Grammar pupil Charley said: “Before I had my operation, I searched high and low for bags to carry my drains in.

“The drains are a pain because they are always attached to you.

“When I felt better a couple of days after my operation, I made a prototype.

“A couple of ladies are already using them.”

There are 15 different styles of drain dollies and two different types all in pretty patterns and colours. Each has its own dolly tag sewn in.

Charley intends to sell them at a reasonable price and donate 10 per cent of the takings to Genesis UK, the breast cancer prevention charity.

Hilary, who had a double mastectomy two weeks ago, said: "I had four drains, two each side. It would have been impossible to mobilise in Hospital or get around at home without them.

"The bags are beautifully made and will make stylish tote bags now that my drains are out.”
