A HEALTH and fitness display proved a smash hit with shoppers, as visitors to Stretford Mall were invited to take part in exercises and spin classes.

Advisers from Pure Gym, which opened at the shopping centre last year, were on-hand in the Mall to advise on everything from exercise routines and aerobics to diets and nutrition, on January 30.

Stretford Mall centre manager Gareth Wilkins also joined in the fitness fun, taking part in a spinning class and encouraging shoppers to have a go.

“Pure Gym has already been very successful since it opened at the centre in spring, with its yoga classes proving particularly popular,” said Gareth.

“We thought that using our display area to stage an exhibition and advice drop-in was a wonderful way of letting even more of our shoppers know that going to the gym doesn’t have to be daunting.

“As well as showing how accessible the classes are for total beginners, the team gave out helpful advice on how best to incorporate exercise into any diet plans.

“Another of our retailers, from Sports Nutrition, was also part of the exhibition and offered advice on protein supplements to those looking to bulk up or who might have special dietary requirements.

“I’m thrilled the event was such a big hit and helped encourage people to have a think about their own health and wellbeing.

"It was great fun getting involved and seeing some of our shoppers have a laugh on the exercise bikes, and we’ll definitely be planning something similar at the Mall in the near future.”

Pure Gym manager Richard Corbishley said that to coincide with the event, Pure Gym at Stretford Mall has extended its ‘no joining fees’ offer until February 7.

“This weekend’s activity meant that we were able to talk to shoppers about their own fitness needs and answer questions,” he said.

“A lot of people believe they will feel self-conscious in a gym, but by speaking to them face-to-face we are able to explain that at Pure Gym we have fitness programmes and classes for everyone, including complete novices

“There are more than 50 classes every week included in the membership fee and we run daytime classes for mums and gentler sessions for older people too.

“We set out to make sure there is something for everyone who wants to get fit, and by staging this event and extending our no joining fees offer we’re hoping people can see that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
