FLIXTON Girls' School GCSE music students from were involved in a keynote music conference held at Methodist Central Buildings in Manchester.

Examiners were on hand to give helpful tips to the the GCSE students from Years 10 and 11and take part in a question and answer session.

The aim of the conference was to provide students with practical, engaging and motivating revision for the GCSE Music examination. Throughout the day students worked with examiners and practitioners with a focus on improving their grades.

Both students and staff experienced live student performances and first hand advice and guidance from senior GCSE examiners. They were able to ask direct questions and receive advice on how to get a high mark in their practical and written work, including fine tuning preparations prior to examination and assessment.

Each student received a full set of notes to take away and use in their own examination preparation.

Year 11 student Kathryn Stephenson, who attended the conference, said: "The tips from the examiners were helpful and will be a vital part of my revision for my exam."

Hannah Weiner, from Year 10, said: "I enjoyed the conference particularly when the A / A* answers were discussed. I think I will find this helpful in order to achieve my full potential in GCSE music."
