PLENTY of fun was had by the children from Bright Horizons Timperley Day Nursery and Preschool as they worked in the kitchen.

The youngsters at the nursery, located just off Deansgate Lane, became little bakers for the day as part of the nursery’s creative cooks programme.

The children learnt about measurements by using scales to weigh the ingredients, in addition to cutting out various shapes and counting how many times they stirred the mixing bowl.

The children also enjoyed singing baking inspired songs such as ‘Pat-a-Cake, Pat-a-Cake’ and ‘5 Currant Buns’.

“Cooking and baking offer the children a fantastic hands on experience to discover new smells, flavours and textures and helps them to build their key skills. These lessons also have a positive impact on their emotional well-being and promotes healthy eating habits,”, explained the nursery manager, Janette Schenk.

“All of the children in the nursery love our cookery classes, as do our parents as they get to sample their children’s delicious creations.”
