IT’s a whole new outlook for double glazing unit manufacturer Wayne Reeves who has won £150,000 off Betfred from a £1 bet.

The 49-year-old started picking numbers on the Irish Lottery six month ago after a chance conversation with a taxi driver bringing him home from visiting family at Christmas.

But now after his big win, the father of two won’t need to use taxis or buses to get to work at the glass factory in Altrincham as he’s going to use some of his winnings on a new car – and a season ticket to Manchester United.

Wayne, who had lucky dip numbers 4, 27, 29, 42 and 45 for Saturday’s draw, said: “I have not bet before and then at Christmas a taxi driver said he’d had a few small wins on the Irish lottery and I just thought I would give it a go. Each week since the beginning of the year I have been picking three or five numbers on the Irish Lottery or the 49s.

“Sunday morning as soon as I woke up I checked the numbers on my phone. I couldn’t believe it, I had won. All five numbers had come up. I kept thinking is this real.”

Wayne, of Woodhouse Park, Wythenshawe went on: “I have a mortgage so will be taking advice about paying some of it off. We’re just back from holiday in Greece but maybe we’ll go on another break and there will be treats for my wife Angela, daughter Jade and step son Daniel.

“I haven’t got a car at the moment and have to go to work early on the bus but that’s going to change and we’ll be getting a new one now we can afford it. I have been a Manchester United fan since I have been in short pants but nowadays only watch them on TV, but now I could well get down to Old Trafford next season.”

Betfred boss Fred Done said: “Congratulations Wayne. That’s a brilliant win - and from such a small stake which is what we at Betfred are all about.”
