TRAFFORD MV ramped up their preparations for the coming season when they met Windermere in a pre-season friendly played in the Lake District.

MV took a large squad with the intent to give game time to as many as possible.

MV had a strong pack built around veterans Hughes and Carraway and with a youthful back division it was evident from early in the game that Windermere had a task on their hands.

MV saw a steady stream of ball and fluid support play kept the game open and attractive.

MV had much more direction than the home side and the scoreboard was soon to start ticking over.

Wide play saw winger Chris Eccles and outside centre Jamie Kingdon score hat-tricks for MV with additional tries from Fagan, Crampton and Pat Eccles. MV's skipper Pat Eccles was also accurate with the boot converting seven out of the nine MV tries.

The home side avoided a whitewash with a consolation score but MV were just too strong and well drilled in all departments and came away with a 5-59 win - a good result to boost confidence ahead of the sterner tests to come.

This week MV will travel to play Manchester in a Thursday evening friendly followed by a trip to Ashton on Mersey the following week.

MV are looking to attract new players for the season and also want to find more teenage players for their U16 to U18 teams.
