ANOTHER poor league result on Saturday has left Urmston in the bottom two in the Cheshire County League Division One table after a two-wicket defeat in a rain-reduced game at Didsbury.

After a delayed start and 37 overs allotted to each side, Urmston were put into bat and got off to the worst possible start losing opener Callum Turner for one.

Callum Parkinson and Bradley Yates took the score up to 40 before Yates was sent back to the pavilion.

The star of the innings was Callum Parkinson who made 60 while overseas professional Joey O'Connor made a quick 34 and it ended 165-8 in 37 overs.

In reply, Didsbury made a fast start with captain Nick Anderson, making 30 but then Urmston had the game by the scruff of the neck with Sumit Panda taking three wickets and O'Connor chipped in with two wickets.

Callum Parkinson took two wickets in two balls but some resilience by Didsbury saw them get over the line with two balls to spare.

Chris Turner's side will be hoping the side can build on a better performance on Sunday beating Ainsdale by

However on Sunday a much better performance was put by the Urmston side in a five wicket win in the ECB national club championship against Ainsdale.

Ainsdale made 202-8 with Calum Turner taking 3-47 and twins Callum and Matthew Parkinson taking two wickets a piece.

In reply Callum Parkinson made a magnificent 62 not out to see Urmston home.
