FORMER Davhyhulme Park Junior Mike Lane has returned to the club to work with their experienced and respected professional Dean Butler.

It comes after Lane started his PGA course at Dunham Forest under the guidance of Ian Wrigley.

Mike said: "I started playing golf at the age of nine as a junior member of Davyhulme Park golf club.

“As a junior member I represented the club as part of the junior team and as an individual accolades included winning competitions such as junior captain’s and junior league events also winning the men’s doubles knockout with my dad.

“At the age of 14 I became the youngest junior to play on DPGC men’s first team and became a regular team player for four years, where I had the best record on the team for 2010 season.

“I was appointed junior captain in the clubs centenary year of 2011.

“I am now in my second year of the PGA and am currently enjoying my work.

"I would like to thank my parents for their support during my training, especially my dad for his continued support as taxi driver, caddy and mentor.

“I would also like to thank my two sponsors K2L Marketing and J Davidson Scrap Metal for their help in supporting me with equipment and competition fees.

“Finally I would also like to thank Dean Butler, the professional at Davyhulme Park Golf Club for having the confidence in me to offer me the position of assistant pro.”
