TIMPERLEY moved up to second in the Cheshire County League Division One after a resounding 104-run victory over Oxton on Saturday.

Timperley lost the toss once again were again inserted into bat, however, excellent batting conditions and glorious weather provided the footings for a good score as they reached 221-7 in their 50 overs.

Once again Asif Iqbal (50) and Dan Cooper (68) were the main stays for the visitors and captain Craig Grindley scored a quickfire 36 at the end.

After tea, Timperley came out all guns blazing and openers Chris Page and Jack White ran through the Oxton top and middle order reducing them to 66-8, however it took until the 45th over before Timperley got the final wicket to win the match.

White finished with figures of 6-59 and Page 3-36 as Oxton fell 104 runs short.

The second team were also comprehensive six-wicket victors over Oxton.

Winning the toss and bowling first Timperley reduced Oxton to 136 thanks to wickets from Santosh Rajerskeran (four), Joe Tindell (three) and Rick Axon (three).

Their run chase was comprehensive and only lost four wickets as they reached their total in 40 overs, Jason Coad 60*, Rajersakeren rounded off a good day with 40.

The third team rounded off a perfect Saturday with a five-wicket win against Warrington.

Veteran Dave Cain led the way with the ball (4-33) as Timperley restricted Warrington to 153. After tea 62* from Jurgees Hassan and 64* from Gary Fisher helped see Timperley comfortably home in 37 overs.
