URMSTON'S topsy-turvy season continued with a 120-run defeat to Davenham on Saturday.

But captain Chris Turner insists the UCG side cannot afford to suffer any more defeats this season as they chase promotion back to the top-flight of the Cheshire League.

He said: "Davenham batted and bowled really really well and deserved the win.

"They scored 275-6 and did like we did against Sale the previous week when we had wickets in hand in the last 10 overs and then just accelerated the runs on the scoreboard by adding 100.

"We were a bit unlucky having to field in the rain which affected our spinners and their captain Mark Greaves hit 84.

"Only Summit Panda returned with any credit seven runs conceded in 10 overs."

Bradley Yates hit 43, Chris Dickinson added 28 and Matt Parkinson was 26 not out at the death as Urmston fell short.

Turner added: "We have got two key games this weekend travelling to Weaverham in the league on Saturday and then Cheadle at home in the cup on Sunday.

"There is no more room for error if we want to get up this year.

"In the cup Cheadle are struggling after being promoted to the Premier Division and we want to take advantage if we can.

"On our day we can beat anybody but we also have had days last Saturday when we were poor."

Urmston are involved in the quarter-finals of a T20 competition against Macclesfield at the UCG
