URMSTON'S topsy-turvy season continued with mixed fortunes in the league on Saturday and then an impressive result in the cup on Sunday.

Chris Turner's side battled hard in field and bowled extremely well on a good surface to bowl Weaverham out for 185 with Matthew Parkinson taking 5-55 while his brother Callum Parkinson chipped in with 3-35.

Bradley Yates top-scored with 35 at the top of the order while Callum Parkinson (26) and Craig Allison (25) registered solid knocks.

However, Urmston's record of chasing a total remained a problem as wickets fell regularly to leave them 40 short.

Meanwhile on Sunday there was a change in fortune for Urmston.

They won the toss and elected to bat first reaching 182-9 off their allotted 45 overs.

In the field, Urmston again grafted hard and after a good opening partnership from Cheadle took wickets regularly to bowl the opposition out for 167 in their final over.

Calum Turner bowled well with 2-30 and Matthew Parkinson 1-11.

Youngster Furkhan Hassan also bowled well to pick up two wickets in his first game of the season for the first team.

This week sees the second half of the season commence with Urmston at home this Thursday in a quarter-final T20 tie against Premier opposition Macclesfield and on Saturday they travel to league leaders Timperley.
