TIMPERLEY won the South Manchester Junior Cricket League U14 cup competition against a spirited Didsbury side.

With visitors Didsbury choosing to bat first, Timperley got off to the best possible start with strike bowler Louis Foster clean bowling two batsmen in the first over.

Foster ended with an impressive 3-14.

Didsbury recovered some ground against some occasionally wayward bowling, through Shah (17), Plested (35) and Dzyweiski (28no). However three wickets towards the end of the innings for James Peel kept the score in check, Peel finishing with 3-20 as Didsbury posted no more than a par score of 111 off their 20 overs.

Timperley started their innings slowly, and alarm bells briefly rang when Aaryan lost his stumps in the second over.

However, that brought James Peel to the crease, and after a brief period of consolidation Timperley enjoyed a second wicket partnership of 62, Ammar Chittalia leading the way with an aggressive 33 off just 29 balls.

His demise led to the introduction of Tom Peel, and for once the twins managed to avoid running each other out (though not for the lack of trying on at least one occasion).

Tom hit a breezy 24no off 18 balls, giving invaluable support to brother James, who carried his bat to retire on 41 off 42 balls, all but seeing the hosts home.

Foster came in to cover drive his first ball for four, to seal an eight wicket win with five overs to spare.
