STRETFORD first team had a disappointing weekend with Ibrar Latif scoring 119 before the rain came and the game was abandoned.

They travelled to Dukinfield and batted first after falling to 25-3 Latif took control scoring a masterful 119 with 16 fours and four sixes.

He was ably supported by captain Wasim Zafar 25 and Aravindhan Rajasekar 23 not out.

Unfortunately the rain came and Stretford’s innings finished at 208-6 off 42 overs.

Despite the conditions underfoot being dangerous the umpires insisted the teams go out and attempt to get a result Wasim Rafiq 2-38 and Danie Van Schoor 3-36 ensured Dukinfield didn’t make the revised target with both teams taking 2 points.

Meanwhile on Saturday, they lost to second-placed Denton West.

Thomas Wright picked up an early wicket but finished on 244-8 with Van Schoor taking 3-78.

Stretford’s reply didn’t really get going with a number of batsmen reaching double figures then losing their wickets.

Ibrar Latif 25 Thomas Wright 23 and 14 year old Matthew Armstrong 22 not out were the top scorers as Stretford made 181 all out losing the final wicket with two overs left.
