ALTRINCHAM-based Manchester Storm aim to broke their losing streak of four games without any scoring any points to beat Coventry Blaze 4-1 in the EIHL Challenge Cup.

Storm started the game well, dominating the ice in the first period of play.

Despite having a potential goal ruled out due to the net being knocked off the crease, Storm responded by upping the pressure and Davy Phillips scored the first goal of the night in the middle of the first period, while on the Power Play.

Storm then took a two- goal lead thanks to a blast by Luke Salazar.

Blaze snatched one back, but that didn’t stop the Storm from going for the win as Matt Caria scored to make it 3-1.

Storm finally secured the win thanks to an empty net goal with a minute to go before the end of the game. Zane Kalemba, who had been outstanding during the game, was awarded man of the match.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm travel east towards Sheffield to take on the Steelers at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield but suffered a 3-1 loss in the league.

The game started well for the Storm, and they scored what seemed to be their first of the night.

However, the goal didn't stand as it was claimed the puck never fully crossed the line.

Sheffield, with a reinvigorated energy, pushed hard and scored to send the home crowd wild.

The Steelers had a two-goal cushion but Storm pushed the Steelers hard and Caria pulled on goal back to make it 2-1.

Storm fell short after pulling goalie Zane Kalemba to give them an extra man with a minute to go from the end of the game and Steelers extended their lead.
